Anne seems . . . shockingly chill here. What’s going through her little furry brain?
Ruh-roh.
Gugnir isn’t as impressive as I expected it to be. Maybe it’s a different spear that Odin used.
Yes, looks like a short stabbing spear. Gungnir was a throwing spear.
OK, so the short stabbing spear must be Gugnir, then.
Anne’s not very well read in terms of mythology, is she?
It’s not been the focus of her studies. Modern, practical magic is, ancient, mythologized magic isn’t.
And it turns out these jerks are just going to bring about the end times. There went any sympathy (and I had so little already).
I seriously doubt that’s their end game.
They seem to think they will be able to control the storm of chaos. If they fail, end of the world.
Anne has been previously established as able to control chaotic entities…she may be betting on her only strong suit, that she can control chaos more than the “Gods” can, or maybe stand up to it when they bail out.
Anne, they have three mythological McGuffins. Take the threat seriously.
She’s beaten everything, from trophy hunters to crazy archmages, that have come before these two. Constant success breeds arrogance.
So why does Hermes have the Norse spear and Loki have the Greek jar? For that matter, why does Freya recognize the latter on sight?
