It’s actually the background that’s been in all of Anne’s magical speech bubbles from the beginning. Usually it’s a different font that covers it up mostly.
It’s a background that is available in PhotoShop, that is then set to somewhere below 50%. As (I believe that to be) Robin says it’s been used since the beginning, While I was doing my own webcomic I avoided using that background since it always made me feel that Anne was going to pop into the scene, be a Deus ex Machina, and then disappear again.
…Hey, does Anne have any musical talent? Don’t recall ever seeing her play an instrument. She probably has an idea for how to use that flute that doesn’t have to do with music anyway.
Hermes is the god of trade, heraldry, merchants, commerce, roads, thieves, trickery, sports, travelers, and athletes in Ancient Greek mythology. He's also trying to bring about the rebirth of the Greek and Norse pantheons of gods.
I prefer He-Man . . .
I can see two reasons why this is the wrong webcomic for you: “He” and “Man”.
Hey, those are two minor issues that can both be kachanged easily.
Loki would know wotch way. He has experience with that kinda shenanigans.
The bigger issue is the instrument of power. Both He-man and She-ra ‘s power is centered around their power swords.
Magic flutes are more a thing of certain bird-characters in Austrian written Operas 😉 Or pan maybe (but a pan flute looks different)
So I really wonder who exactly she’s going to channel by playing the flute 😉
Peter Pan and the GOD Pan come to mind, though it’s a standard fife-style flute and not a pan pipe.
She is going to channel…herself.
Seriously. It’s her origin story…I can retell it if you’d like. See, this one time, at band camp…
Hey, you’re right. I completely forgot about that one 😉 Thanks!
Well now that she’s got the source of her power, she will proceed to become…a Sourcerer!

I like the comic, I just found She-Ra boring compared to He-Man.
Are those emoji in her speech bubbles?

Now play a silly tune!

She became the Wotch at band camp. the flash back was in the first chapter.
She was also show at band practice in the story, “SchizophrANNEia”, specifically this image: http://www.thewotch.com/?comic=schizofranneia-6
Otherwise, she isn’t seen much in band.
Isn’t her band teacher Sykos’ girlfriend now?
“This one time, at band camp, …”
why am I thinking He-Man?
Because his sister does the same thing?
But he did it first.
“By the Power of Hairball, I HAVE THE MEOWER!”
I like the art on this page! Great layout, and the splash panel really works.
